Wayne Perkey
CBS Radio and TV’s Charles Osgood
called Wayne Perkey,
the best interviewer I’ve met!”
High praise from one of America’s premier journalists.
Wayne spent his life in radio and television. For 30 years he was the wake-up voice for Kentuckiana on WHAS Radio and the creator of the proto-type for Morning News and Information radio shows.
Wayne and The Morning Team consistently ranked as one of the top-rated morning shows in America, often as high as number 5!
And for 20 years Wayne was “Mr. Crusade,” Emcee of the WHAS Crusade for Children, the annual telethon that has raised over $100 million for children with handicaps.
In 1970 Wayne created his favorite assignment of the year moving the morning show to the backstretch at historic Churchill Downs for Derby Week and talking to people from all over the world who came to Louisville for the “Fastest 2 Minutes in Sports!”
For 8 years Entrepreneur Perkey owned radio stations in Danville, Ky., which consistently captured recognition by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association as among the very best small market stations in Kentucky.

While on the Board of the Metro YMCA, Perkey helped create the Mayor’s Community Thanksgiving Breakfast and received its first “Spirit of Louisville Award.” This community-wide breakfast annually draws over 1,000 citizens to share a spirit of gratitude.
